Shopsmith Model ER – An Absolute Beauty – Refurbished With Accessories - $850 (Hamilton)

Here’s an oldie BUT an absolute Beauty! This is a Shop smith Model ER – serial number 45930 (which dates it to the late 1940s / early 1950s). When I got, it was filthy – dirty, dusty and greasy – not rusty but a lot of built up grime. I completely dismantled this machine and meticulously cleaned each part. Each part was then repainted using a quality paint – it’s a real close match to the original (not perfect but very close). All milled surfaces were buffed and polished – as were each knob. The tubes were also polished and paste waxed. Bearings were replaced as needed and a new power cord installed along with switch leads. This baby runs beautifully – nice and quiet. It’s a very solid and heavy unit but the casters make it a breeze to move around the shop. This unit comes with plenty of accessories – many of them hard to find. It has a fully reconditioned jigsaw, jointer (with a brand new cutter head) and the extremely rare speed changer (with new belts installed). Other original accessories include 12” sanding disc, miter gauge (with stop rod and miter extension), all four (4) table inserts, complete lathe tool rest, spur drive, cup center, 6” face plate, screw center, tail stock arbor, drill chuck, three (3) various size router chucks, complete mortise attachment (with ¼” chisel), miter extension table, sanding drum, 5/8” universal arbor and the original manual.
There are newer Shopsmith units on the market to buy (and I can even sell you one if you’d like) but Shopsmiths of this vintage and in this condition are tough to find. This is your chance to own a very beautiful and useful piece of Americana – a Shopsmith built in the USA!
