Tested and working battery powered toy race car made in Japan probably in the late 1960's or early 1970's.
It's pressed steel and some plastic construction. Runs on two D size batteries. There is a mechanism on the front with a bulb that makes it a appear as if red sparks are coming from the engine compartment when running. Pretty intricate metal engine and springs and gear assembly, see photos. The bottom chassis is held on by four screws so it's easy to access the internals for tuneups and tweaking.
Not mint but is clean and shows very little wear. Nothing is missing or damaged. The battery compartment terminals are clean, there is just a little oxidation on the inner door of the battery compartment that's out of sight when it's closed.
YouTube demo video taken to show working condition of motor, happy to share it.
