Yacht Rock Band Seeking Male Lead Singer with Higher Vocal Range (Medford)

Are you tired of singing the same old classic rock, top 40, and oldies? Are you a fan of the finest groovy soft yacht rock tunes from the late 70’s and early 80’s. If so, please read on! We are a Yacht Rock tribute band that was started to pay homage to all your favorite artists like Michael McDonald, Hall and Oates, Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, Toto, Christopher Cross, & so much more. Expert musicality, groove and improvisational flavor are a must.

We are looking for a male lead singer/lead guitarist. Please take a moment to read this (it's important):

From a vocal perspective, singer we need has to have a high range to cover songs by singers like Michael McDonald, Christopher Cross, etc. Our male lead will share vox responsibility with our female lead and should be able to do 3 part harmonies.

From a guitar perspective, we need a guitarist who understands that Yacht Rock music isn't distortion pedals, overdrive, and modulation pedals. Guitarists playing this genre use clean sounds so if you are heavy metal rocker this probably won't be your cup of tea.

Musicality - this music isn't easy to play and . We've all listened to it on the radio and it doesn't sound difficult but playing it is a different story. There is a difference between being a "guitar player, keyboardist, etc. and being a musician. Not only do you need to have a certain level of skill playing your instrument but you need to understand how your part fits into the overall sound and compliments other parts to play this music right. If this doesn't make sense to you, again, this probably isn't your cup of tea.

Location - we rehearse in Medford, NJ. Please check the commute and make sure you are willing to make the drive before responding. We will rehearse 1x/week initially until we get up to speed then back it down to 1x/month.

Ok, so with all that out of the way, here's some more useful info:

We have already have our first gig booked (corporate) with more requests coming in plus we have connections to great venues in South Jersey and up and down the NJ shore. Our goal is to be playing out in earnest by late spring/early summer. We would like to gig 3-4x/month once we are ready.

This is a no drama, fun situation and we want this to be something everyone looks forward to doing. So if you check all the boxes and think you're a good fit, put on your captain’s hat, send us your video /audio and come get Yachty with us.
