Two vintage Gretsch Alnico magnets ‘60s-‘70s
I’ve had these for over 40 years. I got them from amp legend Ken Fischer, who wasn’t quite legendary yet at the time, he was just the best local amp tech here in NJ.
He got a bunch of these magnets as unused old stock from one of his other customers and experimented with installing them in Gibson style humbuckers, the dimensions are about the same except that they’re twice as thick, so you had to double up the wooden or plastic shims or make ones from scratch. I’m not sure what model of Gretsch pickup they were originally for, Filtertrons or something else?
$35 for both.
I had these in a number of different Duncan and Gibson humbuckers back in the mid-late ‘80s and liked them. Eventually, I stuck them in a drawer and forgot about them until now.
I’m never going to use them at this point in my life, so I’ll move them along to someone else who will.
Each magnet has one edge marked with white to indicate the polarity. This is stock.
