We are seeking a reliable, hardworking Mechanical Assistant & Laborer to join our field operations team. In this role, you will work alongside experienced technicians to install, maintain, and repair trash chutes, linen chutes, and commercial waste compactors in residential and commercial buildings. This is an entry-level position with excellent hands-on training and a clear path toward becoming a lead mechanical service technician and/ or installer.
-Core Responsibilities
Site Preparation: Load, unload, and transport heavy materials, parts, and tools to and from delivery trucks and work areas.
-Installation Support: Help assemble, hoist, and secure heavy metal and trash chute sections in multi-story buildings.
-Mechanical Repair: Assist lead technicians with mechanical repairs, welding preparation, hydraulic hose replacements, and electrical wiring on commercial compactors.
-Demolition & Removal: Safely dismantle and remove old, worn-out chutes, compactors, and related hardware from job sites.
-Tool & Site Maintenance: Clean and maintain power tools, hand tools, and company vehicles.
- Ensure work zones remain safe, clean, and clear of debris.Safety Compliance: Strictly follow all OSHA safety protocols, including wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and practicing safe lifting techniques.
-Qualifications & Requirements
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in construction, mechanical repair, demolition, or heavy physical labor.
-Technical Skills: Familiarity with basic hand and power tools (e.g., drills, grinders, wrenches).
-Experience with welding or hydraulics is a plus but not required.
-Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds consistently, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces or at heights.
-Driver's License:
-Valid driver's license with a clean driving record to operate or assist with company service trucks.
-Work Ethic:
Punctual, reliable, and able to work effectively as part of a fast-paced field team
