For sale is a John Deere 175 Hydro Riding Mower / Lawn Tractor being sold as is. It needs some work to make it completely usable, or could be used for parts.
- Mower was sitting for several years, and I know nothing about it's history.
- I got it running and the engine runs good, no smoke, but it had a hard time starting. I had to put a spray of starting fluid in the air cleaner to get it going, and then it starts right up and runs fine after, but doesn't seem to start on it's own. The carburetor probably should be cleaned or rebuilt since it was sitting for a while, and this is likely the reason it won't start on its own.
- Transmission seems to work fine. I drove it around for a while at various speeds, both forward and reverse.
- The spindles of the mowing deck are stuck (probably rusty), and don't rotate. So, the blades won't engage, it just stalls the engine. The deck needs to be removed to see if you can get the spindles free so they will rotate. Again, this is a project mower in need of work and tlc but it is a nice vintage classic John Deere Tractor and these are becoming more collectible all the time.
- Tires all have lots of tread left. They need to be sealed with some tire slime though. Most hold air only for a couple days. Back left one deflates after just a few minutes. Seat is cracked and loose as is common on older mowers.
