Job Summary
We are seeking a Part Time compassionate Therapeutic Companion to provide support and assistance (3 hours per week on a weeknight) to a woman with developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for this woman. We are looking for someone who lives or works in the local area.
Duties
Provide emotional support and companionship to the individual
Develop and implement fun and engaging activities together
Assist with using her iPad to reply to email and text messages and in searching the internet as needed
Engage in client observation and report any changes in behavior or health to the appropriate personnel
Read aloud with the individual and assist her in reading on her own
Work directly with the individual to set a schedule around existing activities and commitments during the weekdays
Qualifications
Previous experience in caregiving or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred
Ability to provide compassionate care and maintain a positive attitude in challenging situations
Experience creating fun and engaging activities.
Strong interest in making a meaningful impact on the life of another person.
Immunizations and background check will be required. Paid training.
* Please note that is a part time position with 2 hours per week on a weeknight. This is NOT a weekend position.
** This is NOT located near Newark. This position is located in a residential facility / hospital.
