I am a Princeton-area business owner seeking a bright, dependable, and highly computer-literate college student or recent graduate to help me organize and better manage my Windows laptop and everyday computer activities.
I am not looking for complicated programming or major technical repair work. I need someone who is patient, organized, trustworthy, and comfortable explaining computer tasks in clear, nontechnical language.
Initial responsibilities would include:
Organizing and cleaning up a very cluttered computer desktop
Creating a sensible system for files, folders, documents, and downloads
Helping organize Microsoft Outlook, including email, contacts, folders, and attachments
Assisting with Microsoft Word, Excel, and the general Microsoft Office suite
Reviewing basic computer settings, backups, and security
Eliminating unnecessary duplicate or outdated files and shortcuts
Showing me easier and more efficient ways to handle routine computer tasks
Preparing simple written instructions that I can refer to later
The first visit would likely involve a several-hour block of time at my home in the south Princeton area. After the initial cleanup and organization, I may occasionally need additional help on an as-needed basis.
The right person should have:
Excellent knowledge of Windows computers
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office
Good organizational and problem-solving skills
Patience when working with someone who is not highly computer literate
Reliability, discretion, and good communication skills
References or other evidence of dependability
College students studying information technology, computer science, business systems, or a related field are welcome, although practical experience and patience are more important than a particular major.
Compensation is negotiable and will be based upon experience.
When responding, please briefly describe your experience, availability, hourly rate, and why you believe you would be a good fit. Please also indicate whether you can provide references.
This is an in-person, part-time assignment in the Princeton, New Jersey area.
