THANGABASPAM SMOKE TOBACCO PORCELAIN ENAMEL METAL SIGN 40s 29". Vintage Antique 1940's? Thangabaspam Smoking Tobacco Porcelain Metal Advertising Sign - India - Its a heavy sign made of porcelain enamel. It is embossed. It measures 29 inches tall by 19 inches wide and has a 3/4 inch flange on all sides. It's marked- "Thangabaspam Tobacco, Mild Scented, Regd." A very nice person told me the following; The writing is in Tamil one of the oldest languages spoken by people in Tamil Nadu state of India. Writing on the top says Thanks-Baspam Pulsing Ilai which means tobacco leaf and the bottom words maybe the mans name in the picture (N Arumugam Pillai, Karaikudi). It has six original screw mounting holes on the front edges. This brand of tobacco was registered in 1942. It's in excellent condition very light wear. Some light edge wear with just a little chipping on the edge of the flange. Very hard sign to find in any condition. Please ask any questions that you may have via email or text.
