There is an art studio in Asbury, NJ, called Over the Moon. OTM is a very fun creative space. The owner Megan is awesome, friendly and supportive.
OTM is right across from the train station. The front section is open tables they use for events and classes. In the back they have space that is divided up into smaller 10 + personal spaces for individual artists to rent. Artists of all kinds have rented space, from ceramics, to painting (oils/watercolor), to sewing, to photography. I am currently trying to teach myself gold leaf gilding on glass and sign painting.
I have just started on my author journey, and I began renting a space to motivate myself to be consistent. The space I have is more than I need, and its harder for me to justify the expense if not fully used. I don't want to stop being a member, and its nice to have a place to work and store supplies without carrying them back and forth.
The owner allows people to split the space if the main renter finds someone. You cant at this time go in and ask to rent a half studio, so if its appealing, the only time is when someone is seeking a partner. If I don't have a partner in two months, I probably won't renew my membership, just to share the window of time to reply if this appeals to you.
If anyone is interested, please feel free to contact me. I'll answer any questions. Alot of the members use their studio for supplies and actually work more in the open area. Therefore, sharing a space shouldn't be restrictive.
It would cost 275 $ a month for the split-half portion. This would be a very affordable studio rental. I'm not sure where else you could find something comparable.
I find it nice to be around other creatives in the community instead of working home alone, and I think its helpful to have a destination where I can put work and phone aside.
Look forward to meeting you and seeing what kind of art you make.
