I was wondering if anyone knows of any cat rescues in the Jackson area that could help me place my 4 cats. After my annual visit with my pulmonologist I am running out of medications to help me with my breathing from my cats. They have always been indoors and I don't feel it would be right of me to suddenly make them outdoor cats just so I can keep them. They are all current on their vacc, have been neutured and well cared for. I tried the shelter but they ask for a $60 dollar surrender fee per cat which I understand but cannot afford at this time. They do not have to stay together and can be seperated to help with placing them, I have 2 males and 2 females which if any one is interested I can send pics, but if you know of a rescue that would. I am sure I will get alot of slack from people but I am only trying to do what is best for them and not have to make them out door cats.

Declawed house cat found needs home (Bedminster, NJ)

This neutered, declawed houscat was found out here off a dirt road very thin and terrified a few weeks ago. He's fattened up and much happier now but we've been unable to locate his owner and it looks like someone may have dumped him since he could not have gone far and no on in the area is claiming him.

Unfortunately, we can only keep him another week or two since he's scared of our cat and dogs.

He's a wonderful guy, very happy to snooze all day on the couch and trained to use a litter box. He's perfect for someone who wants a lazy, cuddly house cat and would be well suited for an apartment since he's not very active. We have no info on his medical history, shots, etc. but it appears that he's been well cared fo since someone had him declawed and he was definitely was raised indoors and loves people.

UPDATE!!! HOORAY!! the Dept of Health has a heart after all!!!... They have granted BERNICE a stay of executionand after thorough investigation have allowed BERNICE to be adopted or to be pulled by a rescue group!!.. So now she only has a couple of days left and she is still in danger of being PUT DOWN as a result of NO SPACE!!! -PLEASE GIVE HER A HOME FOR THE NEW YEAR!!

Meet BERNICE - she is a 5 y blue f amstaff that was found along with another female brindle dog tied to a pole so tightly they could not move. Park Rangers brought them into the NYC Animal Care & Control with no incident except that they had to bring them in using the polestick which dogs are very scared of and adverse to. She ended up biting the pole so hard she punctured her lip and because of this the NY Dept of Health was notified and they put her on a 10 day "NHB" - non-human bite hold. Now usually when the hold comes up... the DOH has been less than kind to pits and have ordered they be put down.. but in Bernice's case, the DOH reviewed what the staff had to say and FOR ONCE they did not order Bernice to be put down and gave her a reprieve... but now she's in danger of being put down because there is NO SPACE LEFTat the shelter... so PLEASE SAVE HER!

She looks like a little hippo with begging eyes in her cage as she is always ready for a stroll. She is a very reserved female , mature and calm , who appears to me as a loyal companion. It takes time for her to "give herself up" but when she does, she is yours forever. She walks nicely and many dogs were met without creating any issue for her. She wags gently her tail(horizontally). BERNICE has a good appetite, a hand can be placed in her bowl w/o any problem even when dinner is meatloaf or chicken. I have never heard her bark. She is rather peaceful and likes to just stay at my feet and be petted and talked to.

BERNICE is a bit of a "couch potato", a good dog for a less active owner. I discovered that Bernice LIKES KITTENS/CATS!!. When I took her out and walked her by the kittens that had just been spayed...one of the kittens was crying in her cage.It was heartbreaking to both animals and humans. Bernice ran toward her. The kitten calmed down, stuck her arm through the bar to caress Bernice 's nose and Bernice licked her. I guess, maternal instincts. Bernice was a mother before and we think she would be good with small children as well!. Bernice has been wonderful with all the dogs she's met... she's just a sweet sweet girl and deserves another chance at a loving home!! - Won't you give her a home for the New Year!?<

He pulls slightly when he sees a tree so he can sniff it, but he's easy and docile the rest of the time and a complete "MUSH"

LUCKY was rated "mild" on his temperament, but when he was brought in, there was NO SPACE in the adoption ward and he was stuck in the back and has HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN by the public and is scheduled to be PUT DOWN as a result!! Won't you give this handsome happy go lucky boy the chance he's been denied, and consider him for foster or adoption? His owner confirms that he is HOUSEBROKEN, and loves MEN, WOMEN, and CHILDREN. Missy is a 10 year old chubby senior pit who was surrendered 4 days before christmas by someone who claims she has "no time" now that a new baby is in the house. But she was certain to mention that Missy loves little babies. Go figure. I am not at all surprised that Missy is child friendly, because this gentle soul became my buddy within 20 seconds of our walk, turning and straining toward me so she could give me one happy lick of thanks. Missy is a confident, amiable delight, plain and simple---in fact, she's the dog I would walk at the end of the night as a reward. What a pleasure! She's easy to control, seems fine with other dogs, and is very happy and thankful for any attention you give her. Missy scored a "no concern" rating from our behaviorist, and I know that all who interact with her will agree. She's a gem, and you'll squeal with delight when you meet her in person. Sarah is a truly beautiful puppy dog---see her here, with just an intake photo to get her a home, and notice how striking her face is. She's an ebony coated beauty found as a stray on 124th street and brought to our Manhattan care center. She was well behaved for our medical team, and earned a solid "mild" from our behaviorist, including an encouraging, submissive dog to dog result. "Champ" was pulled from a high kill shelter a couple months ago. He was extremely emaciated and is now nursed back to health. Champ is a 2 year old beautiful blue pit that is now over joyed with the opportunity to live a normal life and be loved. He is vaccinated, fixed, and micro chipped. He is one of the most obedient dogs that I have yet to foster and will turn himself into a monkey for a treat. Although he is obedient and quite independent, he does require a dog savvy home as he does get over excited with life. He shares the same over exciement with dogs and probably would do better as the only dog. This champ really fits his name and is so deserving of a home to call his own. I got this in the mail a week ago, and I just checked, and the dogs have had no interest.

They are about 14, have always been together, and have had not one, but two Mommies die, leaving them with a man who doesn't want them, and has promised them safety only until New Years.

I can hold these dogs, and help with this end of transport, if anyone is interested.

What I know is their mom (guardian) passed away about 2 years ago of lung cancer and her sister (dogs aunt) adopted them. The aunt died 2 weeks ago and her husband is alone in his home. The children are away at college and the husband said he cannot care for them any more � too much on his plate.... Both dogs were brought up together and from the way it looks in the photos they have a good life thus far. I sit here on my bed and look over to my two dogs and two cats and think to myself � what would become of my pets if something happened to me and my husband. I know they are in my "Will" but I hope my family would take good care of them (I am sure they would).

Anyway, back to the dogs. They are both older dogs - not sure exactly how old. They are approx. 14 years young. Maggie is a Beagle mix, and Spike is a Pomeranian. The guardian would like to keep them together if possible. That is a decision the guardian will have to make when it is time for adoption. We realize these dogs are elderly and we can only hope that someone adopts them together.

If you can, please do a special email to your friends and get the word out about these orphans. I would appreciate it.

I have a two year old dog, and I usually take him to a kennel. I would really prefer that he stay at home so he has more room to play, but he needs more than two quick visits a day, which is what most pet sitting services consist of. I would love for someone to stay at my house overnight, but I have a hard time paying $75-100 a night for someone to watch TV and sleep. I am trying to find someone reasonably priced to take care of my dog, usually for 2-3 nights at a time. You would be able to go to school or work for the day and just come to my house afterwards-it would be really easy extra income. It's fine if you want to bring your dog with you if you have one. I would also consider a pet sitting trade-i.e. I could watch your dog when you are away in return. I would love to hear from you if you are interested!

I took in stray dogs and cats in VA brought them back to health, trained them
and found loving indoor homes for them. I still have 2 dogs and 1 cat that were
rescues to find homes for.

This is Patches she was tied up outside her house for 1 week after her owners
moved and left her behind until my friend who is an animal cop found her!!! No
food, only rain water, no shelter and she was living on bark and grass!!!! I
gave her the name Patch because she is very good at patching up her horrible
past and living in the present.

Patches is 1 1/2 years old, spayed, house trained and indoor dog.
She is excellent with my other dogs ranging from 15lbs-95lbs and my cats. Very
good with people but a little shy at first, is good with bigger kids (70lbs +
probably) since she still has some manners to learn like not jumping up to give
kisses and play. She has never bitten any pets or people and has never shown
any sign of aggression.
Her perfect home would have another playful doggy that's non aggressive, a
fenced in yard, dedicated owner who takes the time to train her and play with
her, someone who isn't gone all day, many walks/runs/ amd or play time, someone
who has had family pets for a long time and doesn't get bored of them and decide
to put them on craigslist; a dog is a life long committment.

Things she loves to do:
-Going bye bye's (car rides) with her head out the window
-Going for walks/runs everywhere and anywhere
-Playing fetch and catch
-Cuddling on the couch and in bed with you
-Hanging out with other doggy friends
-Learning new commands and tricks
-Just lots of human interaction time

Many dogs and cats in high kill shelters will be PTS today and tomorrow. Shelters that are trying to become No Kill are begging for help because people have been dumping animals at their shelters in record numbers. MANY cats will die because there are not enough homes for all of them.

Please help me to find Sunshine a loving home. I took her from a shelter because I felt bad that she had been there so long. She is about 1 1/2 years old, spayed already and up to date on her shots. She loves dogs and tolerates other cats. I have 3 older children which she is fine with. She loves to lay in your lap and just relax. She sleeps right next to me also. Up at our adoption center, she is very stressed and sometimes swipes at the people who walk by. I think it reminds her of the shelter. She deserves a home where she can feel safe. Target was found as a tiny baby in a target parking lot. His foster mom took him home and bottle fed him until he was old enough to eat on his own. Now he is again homeless. His foster mom is very ill and needs to find him a home before it is too late for her to do so. He is 1 1/2 years old, just a doll and loves to sleep with you and be with you all the time. He is up to date with his shots, and combo tested negative as well. Please help Target to find a home.
