Job Responsibilities: Will provide TECHNICAL & PROJECT LEADERSHIP in the development of NOVEL OPTOELECTRONIC COMPONENTS and/or SYSTEM PROTOTYPES, based on GOVERNMENT-FUNDED AND COMMERCIAL R&D PROGRAMS. Applicant MUST have proficiency in the field of COMPOUND SEMICONDUCTOR (III-V) OPTO-ELECTRONIC DEVICES; experience in CMOS PHOTONICS & SILICON INTEGRATION a plus.
The TECHNOLOGY LEADER of OPTOELECTRONICS will actively develop programs with PROGRAM MANAGERS / CLIENTS in VARIOUS GOVERNMENT AGENCIES such as DARPA, ONR, AFRL and other R&D and operational agencies. You will WRITE PROPOSALS, actively seek and OBTAIN FUNDING from GOVERNMENT & COMMERCIAL agencies. Uphold & ENHANCE VISIBILITY at the INDIVIDUAL, GROUP & COMPANY level amongst worldwide academic, research and commercial institutions. Perform technical & business presentations to external clients, academic and government/industry and to internal staff and management. Work as an integrated team with other groups, Technical Managers, Business Development people across the organization for growth of our business. Improve the OPTOELECTRONIC team thru adding staff, streamlining design, fabrication & testing workflow, upgrading infrastructure in order to accomplish RAPID PROTOTYPING of commercially important & cutting edge devices. Establish a good rapport with people for enhancement of our business, technical impact and corporate presence, and for running the internal operations smoothly.
Qualifications: PHD in EE, Physics, etc & detailed knowledge of III-V DEVICE DESIGN, ADVANCED PROCESS development, and/or MATERIALS INTEGRATION. Position requires GOOD COMMUNICATION SKILLS & ability to WRITE, or help write, WINNING PROPOSALS. The applicant MUST HAVE US CITIZENSHIP, due to requirements for US Government contractors & projects may require a US GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE; therefore the ABILITY TO OBTAIN SECURITY CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED.
Must have 5-10 YEARS experience in CREATING AND EXECUTING ON PROJECTS FUNDED BY EXTERNAL AGENCIES SUCH AS DARPA, ONR, AFRL, and other R&D AND OPERATIONAL AGENCIES. Proven TRACK RECORD OF OBTAINING FUNDING FOR PROJECTS & PROGRAMS as the SOLE or most significant contributor. Provide technical leadership in projects related to: ADVANCED OPTOELECTRONIC DEVICE DESIGN and PROCESS DEVELOPMENT, HIGH POWER DIODE LASERS, & SINGLE FREQUENCY DIODE LASERS. Ability to TAKE CHARGE OF PROJECTS AND PEOPLE, as well as SKILLS to WORK as a PART of a TEAM to achieve common and larger goals than can be achieved by working alone. PROVEN TRACK RECORD IN KEY TECHNICAL AREAS MENTIONED ABOVE with RECOGNIZED CAPABILITIES AMONGST PROGRAM MANAGERS IN FUNDING AGENCIES, ACADEMIA, and significant people in the key areas.
